The book I'm reviewing is The Knockout Games. The author that wrote this book is Gregory Neri. Another book he wrote is Yummy: The Lasts Days of a South Side Shorty. The genre of the book is fiction with a little bit of thriller in it.
A girl named Erica just moved to St. Louis from Little Rock because her parents were getting divorced. The neighborhood that they moved into was mostly black people and they were one of the few whites. She meets the girl named Destiny which is in a club called TKO. The club goes around and picks random people to try to knockout the person with one punch. Soon the game they're playing goes a little too far, and one of the victims was the art teacher from Erica's school and her husband. Her name was Ms. Lee and she doesn't come back.
What I liked about the book was how at the end Destiny and Erica become closer than they were at the beginning. What I disliked is how is how Kalvin the Knockout King acted all nice and said he wasn't going to do anything bad but ended up hurting someone really bad physically and mentally.
You should really read this book because the lesson is kinda of just saying that because the person is nice to you that doesn't mean that's what they're really like. So, it's kinda of like don't chose a book by it's cover cause you'll never know what you're gonna get.
