This Student Could Not Be Bothered with a Clever Title

  By Ashleigh A.

The Book A tale of two Cities was written by Charles Dickens. It was first published in weekly installments in All the year round. The novel he wrote is Historical fiction. It was written in London, England in 1859. The time setting was 1775 to 1793. It took place in London and Paris; both the outskirts of it. He is a British author and wrote many classics. He wrote Oliver twist, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, and Nicholas Nickleby. He was very poor, he came from a poor family.  The first novel written By charles Dickens wrote was the pickwick papers. He has had many successful novels written.

A tale of two cities is in the time period of French Revolutionary war. It is a book between the English and french. So not only does the book take place in England but it switches throughout the book to France. The character Jarvis lorry travels from london to Paris on a secret mission for his boss. One person goes along for the trip with him. She is  a seventeen year old woman by the name of Lucie Manette. She find her Father who was locked up for no apparent reason for 18 years in the Bastille. He was released and the mission was to take him back to see his daughter where they could live together. They struggle but he is a free man, and does small jobs to get by.
The narrator of the book is anonymous. Though some believe is was Charles Dickens himself. The narrator care for the good characters such as  Sydney Carton. His feelings reflect in the novel, he knows that the oppression has turned the world into bad people. The point of view used in the story is third person omniscient. That simply means the narrator knows everyone's thoughts and feelings. The story is always changing views between characters and cities. There isn't a specific person of city it stays with. I believe it was played off very well, It switched between person to person and city to city. Not only are the thoughts and emotions and motives provided but he also keeps up with the history and what is going on. It is very intriguing, the use of narration was impeccable.
The use of narration was very good. I liked being able to see all sides and view everyone's emotions and feelings and moves. Whether is be a person or city the narration was always good.
