You Have Entered... The Dead Zone

By Justin H.

Another interesting book by a man who has written many horror stories. This man is Stephen King, with The Dead Zone. In this you follow the extraordinary life of John No-Middle-Name Smith, who is unlucky enough to be a magnet for head injuries. John Smith was an average teacher who lived in New England; up until he got in a car crash and into a coma that lasted more than four years. However, nothing was the same when he awoke, he became a psychic that when touching something he can see its past, present, and the future. There is one thing he can not see or even explain, the dead zone.

The Dead Zone is a well written novel. I really like the depth of details on the characters and what they think, experience, and do. This makes them seem realistic. I thought that there were some random plots that do not fit into the main plot, but are there to create a bridge that broadens the picture of how John can use his abilities. Doing this, it creates an interesting puzzle that will lead you to solve the puzzle. In the end, I did not like the ending. It was not at all what I thought it would be. The final climax was good, but the end happened quickly thereafter. Overall, I liked The Dead Zone and it reminded me of a very normal version of The Twilight Zone and I can see a cool show being made out of it.

I think that anyone of a mature audience should read The Dead Zone. It is interesting, but has some startling content not meant for the feeble minded.

The Dead Zone can be found online or at the nearest library.
