Saving Bernie Carbo

By Adam B.

When there is a fork in the road you have two choices, either take the right path or veer to the left. Bernie Carbo and Dr. Peter Hantzis teamed up to portray the life of Bernie Carbo. A struggling ball player who not only had his fair shares of struggles on the field but struggling issues

he had to overcome off the field. The drugs and the alcohol were the biggest burdens of Bernies' life,  the only thing that could save him was his faith with God and Baseball.
Bernie Carbo was always the class clown  when he was playing for a Major League ball club. Everyday he would entertain his fans weather running like a goofball into the dugout between innings, or putting an act on when he took his position in the outfield.. But what the fans didn't see behind the scenes was the troubling addictions Bernie Carbo had..  Mr.Carbo played for many successful teams over his career such as, the Cincinnati Reds (19691972)St. Louis Cardinals (19721973)Boston Red Sox (19741976)Milwaukee Brewers (1976)Boston Red Sox (19771978)Cleveland Indians (1978)St. Louis Cardinals (19791980) Pittsburgh Pirates (1980).

The most famous part about his career was his game tying pinch hit home run in extra innings of game 6 of the 1975 World Series for the Boston Red Sox which later on setup Carlton Fisks' walkoff homerun. The most stunning and fascinating thing about bernie's home run was he actually smoked marijuana before his at bat. The drugs the alcohol was the biggest affect of Bernies' career. The only thing that saved him was his third wife tammy and the Lord Jesus Christ. This book reaches  out and inspires anyone. Whether you're young or old, this powerful message Bernie carbo brings may bring guidance and help to whatever the readers are struggling with in life.
