An Exciting Life as a Photo Journalist

by Kelli A.

Being a photojournalist can lead to an exciting life. In Safari as a Way of Life, author Jennifer New writes about the life of Dan Eldon, a photojournalist who traveled Africa and captured the stories he saw about war, adventure, and family through his photos and journals.

The book starts with the start of Dan's life to the end, explaining all the work he's done and all the places he went with the people he met. It teaches the reader how important reporting everything can be, as Dan always helped others through his work as a photojournalist.

Dan lived a short life, but he showed how being a journalist can live a big impact on other lives. Dan made sure he helped those around him and put others before himself. He didn't really have a bedroom, his room was a studio that he would sleep in.  His life may have ended helping those around him, but everyone remembers him and his life lives on as his family teaches others to help out those around them.

This is a great book for learning about how to help others through your work. It shows the life of being a journalist and shows it can be great to travel and tell a story to those who can't see it for themselves. This book inspires me to want to travel as a journalist and it can change your point of view on the world.
