The Call of the Wild by Jack London

by Stav A.
The Call of the Wild by Jack London, is told from Buck, a four-year-old, 140 pound, St. Bernard shepherd dog. This book is for any dog loving teenager that loves an inspirational story. It is about Buck's owner, who is a judge who loves hunting. Manuel, who is the judge's personal gardener and one who is obsessed with the lottery, can't help his family on his little earnings. So he must find a way to feed his terrible addiction. He comes up with the novel idea of selling Buck for 50$.

As far as Buck was concerned, he was at the time living a very luxurious lifestyle and over time, he became domesticated. Buck didn't know how to hunt for his food, and he lives in warm weather his whole life. When Manuel sells Buck to a buyer, Buck attempts to get away, but a rope is holding him back which detains him. Never had Buck ever been treated unfairly. He is then put on a big train, when the first chance comes he attacks his kidnapper, but cannot get free.
Buck is broken but not beaten. He has zero options but to try attempt to live in the rough Northland environment. In the book, Darwin's survival of the fittest comes into play because it is in his blood to survive and live.
I would recommend reading this book, for myself personally for not being a proponent reader I very much enjoyed this book. I'd give it a 5-star rating and am interested in purchasing the book. This book has everything I look for in reading for fun, it has a new idea, an interesting perspective, and a topic I can relate too. Not many books could satisfy a strict guideline yet the book The Call of the Wild by Jack London does. If your interested in buying this book it can be found on Amazon or any major bookstores nearby
