A Guide to a Good Read

By Matthew B.

Written by Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is apart of a six book series, but is the most noticeable out of them.  With it's odd characters and storyline, this book as a whole provides an interesting adventure into the world of sci-fi, in a funky way.

At the start of the book we are introduced to Arthur Dent, the main character of the story, with his house being torn down so the local government can build a road.  That's not the weird part, it's when you find out there's more than just humans in this world. His best friend is an alien and there's aliens that want to destroy the Earth.
The story then takes you on a journey that is hard to capture as a whole because so much happens.  While this does fit in, it's sometimes too bizarre to read. It's odd, slightly confusing, but fun to visualize yourself.  It's not like any other sci-fi book today, it's drastically different, but in a positive way.
Overall, I enjoyed The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, even with it's out of this world (No pun intended) story line.  Yes, it's quite unusual, but I would recommend it to those who want something that isn't just a love a story or a drama.
