Where Is Amy Dunne?

By: Madison C.
Using her trademark razor-sharp writing and assured psychological insight, Gillian Flynn serves up a fast-paced, devilishly dark, and ingeniously plotted thriller called Gone Girl. With the use of leaving her readers in the dark and delivering a large jaw dropping plot twist Flynn confirms her talent as a hot new writer.

On a summer morning in Missouri, it's  Nick and Amy's fifth wedding anniversary. Surprises are being arranged when Nick Dunne's sharp and beautiful wife disappears from their home. Under climbing pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy's parents—the town golden boy reveals endless lies, acts of deceit, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is vague and certainly bitter. But is he really a murderer?
Gillian Flynn offers a large thriller packed with raw marriage problems and a question everyone wants to answer to. Her character development is beautiful: Nick Dunne is looked at as a criminal to everyone around him at the beginning but readers can see he is a wreck and slowly crumbling to the touch and you can't help but have sympathy for him. Flynn winks at her audience and leaves them in the dark of Amy's disappearance but eventually allows her readers to come into Amy's diary and learn what the police, Nick, and her own parents are oblivious to.
Gillian Flynn had written two books prior to Gone Girl. After reading and also seeing the film adaption of the novel, I cannot wait to read the other two. I was incredibly happy with the way Gone Girl was written and would love to explore more of her work. I suggest you do the same.
