What's Your Story? Review

                                              By Sumeet S.
What's Your Story? by Marion Duane Bauer is a book that helps writers write fiction books. It gives writers a new way to look at writing fiction novels from how to choose your point of view to write in to how to get a reader hooked to your novel. The genre of this moving book is a mix of nonfiction and guide. This genre means that the book guides the readers on how to do certain things.

This book explains how readers should write fiction books. Bauer insists on technique and deliberation over inspiration and natural funding. After spelling out the need to regulate the writing habit, she settles into the little details of gathering and expanding ideas; building on characters, plot, and themes; and, yes, mastering grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Her last comment is telling: ``Knowing your craft can help you tell a story. But only by taking risks can you make art.'' After many pages of infuriating information and blunt counsel, that sentence may be the one to launch teenagers to the challenge. The book speaks directly to young writers and they will also find this sensible dissection of the storytelling process invaluable.
Bauer's book is very sophisticated and detailed. She is able to go into to detail about how to make up a story line and how to get your readers to love your characters. She tells us how to make the dialogue very intriguing and appealing to the readers. She also does a very good job of explaining how to make the ending of a story unforgettable and surprising for the readers. She also intricately explains how to revise your story after you finished your first draft of your own novel. I honestly thought that this book could have helped me a lot in my novel because it gave me a good perspective on how to deal with writing fiction novels.
I never knew that a book about writing novels could be good, but once I read this book, that completely blew the past though out of my head. I would recommend anyone to read this novel to anyone that wants to write fiction novels. This book can be found at any library around and Barnes and Nobles and other bookstore nearby. Everyone should get this book and I promise that you will not be disappointed.
